Project Description

Mama Josephine

Apio Josephine became a widow after her husband, two sons and daughter were brutally slaughtered by the Lakwena Rebels in 1986. In 1991, she gave her life to the children who had been orphaned with war insurgency and HIV/AIDS. She currently raises 67 orphans where they are facing great challenges without food, basic medical, education and clothing.

Our goal is to create a sustainability center that impacts the development and forward thinking of these young minds. We have an opportunity to rebuild the orphanage on nearby land! Our partnership with a local brick-maker, Father Henry, provides the resources we need to make this impact. With each brick that is donated we can build a better life for these kids.

Health Screenings

Health screenings and access to proper medical care can eliminate the spread of infectious diseases and prevent early death. In 2017, one of our first projects, our group of volunteers conducted wellness checks to ensure the children were in good health. Common priorities for health screenings include:

  • Malaria

  • Tetanus

  • Personal Hygiene

  • Physical Health

  • General Wellness

The Little Book of Be

One of the greatest gifts that we give these amazing people is hope and love. During a 2017 visit to Uganda, we provided books designed to share our token of kindness. The Little Book of Be embraces 7 words: Genuine, loving, strong, grateful, inspired, kind, happy, and shares inspiring encouragement.

The Shoe that Grows

A shoe that expands 5 sizes and lasts for years was created for kids living in poverty. We provided a pair of shoes for each of the children in the orphanage. It’s partnerships like these that made our efforts on the ground impactful.

CHANGE A LIFE TODAY
